Part two of holding a "Vigil."

I am on the road so please bear with me on spelling and content, I will fix this up when I get home.

I left you all in the middle of the night holding your vigil where you have fasted, purified and set up a sacred space in the woods somewhere. You have built your fire, hopefully out of only natural things, no paper or wood with nails etc. It is easy to start a fire using only dried pine needles and old pinecones as starter, followed by the dead, dry twigs off the lower parts of trees in the area.

You have cleared the fire area so it is safe, if you do not know of these things, look at any Boy Scout manual for fire making and follow the instructions. They were originally written in the early 1900's based on a movement called "Woodcraft", the way of the Redman.

Anyway, your fire has been burning and you have been tending it all night. You have divided the night into the four sections to correspond with the four fazes of human life as described previously.

You have written down the messages/revelations you received as to how these four parts of your life relate to the questions you have brought before your "council." (Your spiritual helpers/ancestors.)

As dawn arrives, you feel a freedom and clarity in your mind and heart. You have new wisdoms about your future. Now what do you do?

After the sun has fully come over the horizon, you put out your fire so that you can safely run your hand through the ashes without any excess heat.

You come down off your "hill" to meet your sponsor who escorts you to an awaiting group of supporters. You all gather for the "break-fast." I recommend it start with fruits and juice. Then later, after your body is grounded, you can move on to proteins and breads.

You have a feast with loved ones and share a few of the things that happened over the night.

Most of what happened you share only with your sponsor. You pray for proper interpretation and then you go rest for the remainder of the day.

That is it; you have done your vigil. Now I know this will leave more questions than I have answered, so please, ask away. Write to me at: jim@wayofthepipe.com
